Meet the Human Behind the Design
Well, hey there. I’m Melissa.
I’ve spent a pretty significant portion of my life trying to understand people.
Kids. Parents. Families. Behavior. Relationships. Learning. Why people do the things they do.
I’ve worked in childcare, schools, behavior analysis, parent education, coaching, and a whole bunch of other places where humans are being humans.
I’ve also spent plenty of time figuring out my own life-which, spoiler alert, is still very much under construction.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something:
Most of us don’t need or want another person telling us what we’re doing wrong.
We need someone who can help us understand ourselves, see things differently, laugh about the ridiculous parts, and figure out what to do next.
That’s what I want Design Under Construction to be- a place to learn, experiment, grow, laugh, rethink things, and build a life that actually fits.
I asked some people who know me to describe what I’m good at.
Because apparently asking people you trust to roast/compliment you is a perfectly reasonable branding exercise. Basically, I’m really good at talking.
The People on the Jobsite say:
-
"Melissa's gift is to use her bubbly personality to pull people out of their shell and make them feel seen."
Danielle (mom friend from the beginning)
-
“You're really good at being comfortable and making others comfortable in spaces and situations where others might be withdrawn or avoid."
Abby (life-long friend)
-
"Fearless dedication to whatever you're doing"
My mom
-
Making people feel accepted and comfortable; you can talk to anyone, genuinly listen, and never judge people, making everyone feel valued and like they belong.
